大観覧車が見える丘の麓にある「岩作・中根公園」〜長久手の公園巡り❺【長久手タイムズ】
グリーンロードやリニモ芸大前駅ができる前までは、中根地区はひょっとして長久手で最も不便な場所の一つだったかもしれません。長らく最寄りのバスは岩作御嶽山の向こう側、岩作の安昌寺バス停でした。
そんな中根にぽつんとあるのが中根公園。中根とは、「丘の斜面の中腹」という意味。その丘の頂きには、現在、長久手東小学校がたち、その周囲には耕作地・農園が広がっています。
中根地区の住民以外まず知られていない「中根公園」を訪れてみました。
「中根公園」の標は、樹木の年輪の板でつくられています。
一見、殺風景な公園ですが、北方は長久手東小学校と一大農園が広がる丘陵、西には岩作御嶽山、北東には猿投山やモリコロパークの大観覧車がのぞめ、どこか東北地方の長閑な田園にいるかのような風景に包まれます。
公園から正面奥に東小学校を望む。田園エリアであるものの生徒数600人程（全21クラス）、長久手市では中規模クラスの小学校である。
秋葉社と刻まれた年季の入った石灯籠。ここから30m程前方に中根公園はあります。奥の少しこんもりとした山は岩作の御嶽山。
東部上郷地区の遊び場は昔から山林の中や川辺、池、崖、田圃の畦道、古い家の庭だったりしたのでそもそも公園は存在せず、自然の中が遊び場でした。
今日でも市の西部や南部でふつうにみかける見た目にも楽しそうな複合遊具がある公園はなく、昔ながらのブランコと滑り台とシーソーの3点セットです。ジャングルジムはほとんど撤去されているので中根公園にもありませんでした。

「中根」とは「丘の斜面の中腹」という意味。
長久手東小学校が建つ丘陵の南側エリアに広がる耕作地・農園が目の前に広がっています。平成16年（2004）に開校した「長久手農学校」も近くにあります。「農あるくらし、農のあるまち」をめざした「田園バレー事業」がこの地でも進められています。
規模感は異なるものの宮沢賢治の小岩井農園のような、そんな心地よい風と光に包まれている市内の場所の一つ。
中根のすぐ西にある長久手市民球場。かつてここはため池の琵琶ヶ池があったところ。
琵琶が池のすぐ近く道路に面し昭和30年代後半からだったか中根の住民にとってはありがたい食料品や日用品を扱う小さなお店ができた。当時の上郷地区の子供たちは自転車であちこち移動していたので芸大や農業試験場辺りに遊びに行った帰りはその小さなお店に立ち寄ったものだ。
公園の西側に広がる農園。向こう側に東名高速道路の延長道路（長久手ICからモリコロパーク方面へ）が見えます。その下にリニモの高架線路とそのまた下にはグリーンロードが走っています。
中央奥にモリコロパークの大観覧車が見えます。
この中根地区は江戸時代に岩作から加藤姓の人たちが分家して家を構えはじめたと伝わっています。明治時代には十数軒になり、現在は50、60軒、否、もっとだろうか裏道の奥まで家が建っています。中根地区の南端、長久手ICの出入り口向かいには「ファミリーマート」がかなり以前にでき、ひっきりなしに賑わっています。
