「勝入塚」から裏手の森林の中へ〜古戦場の地形を辿る【長久手タイムズ】
多くの市民の皆さんも訪れてられる長久手古戦場公園。そして公園のすぐ近くに建つ池田勝入（恒興）塚。今回、古戦場公園のシンボルでもある勝入塚のもつ荒々しさを、その地形とともにレポートします。そして勝入塚の裏手に広がる松林、中央の石碑銘の裏手、崖の上に広がる松林は見ものです。もちろん当時そのままではないのですが古戦場の古えのありさまの一端が感じられる風情が感じられます。
現在、古戦場公園は整備工事中ですが、裏手の森林の中へと遊ぶことはできます。工事の様子も崖の上から望めます。裏手に広がる森林は、想像以上に古戦場を体感できる場所です。ぜひ訪れて歩いてみてください。
国史跡「勝入塚」： 秀吉軍勢の武将・池田恒興（勝入＝しょうにゅう）討死の場所と伝えられています。当時、池田恒興は美濃の大垣城主でした。長久手の戦いで落命する４年前の1580年に入道（剃髪）していたので「勝入斎」と名乗っていました。塚名は法名の「勝入」にちなむものとなっています。
池田恒興は、「清洲会議」に出席した織田家重臣の一人。母の養徳院は織田信長の乳母で、信長とは乳兄弟という存在。幼少期から信長の小姓として仕える。犬山城主、摂津国兵庫城主でもあった。
池田恒興の次男の輝政（尾張清洲生まれ）は、後に播磨姫路藩の初代藩主として姫路城を大規模修築し現在に残る名城に仕立て上げた。
池田輝政は、秀吉亡き後、家康側につき、関ヶ原の戦いでは徳川軍として南宮山の毛利秀元・吉川広家らの西軍の抑えを務めた。

池田勝入塚もまた崖の上にあるのが分かる。この崖より向こう側の松林は、住所で言えば「長久手市仏が根」である。まさに古木のうねるような根っこが地面を這っている。
古戦場公園の出入り口の坂より南側一帯（資料館側）が、住所でいうと「長久手市武蔵塚」。約300m西側にある鬼武蔵（森長可）が落命した場所にある「武蔵塚」と同じ地名になっている。武蔵塚一帯は、小高い丘が尾根のように続いており、こんな場所で激しい戦闘が交わされたのかと想像を巡らしてみたい。古戦場資料館を訪れたら、池田勝入塚や庄九郎塚以外に、裏手の林の中をぜひ散策してみて欲しい。当時の地形そのままではないといえど、合戦が行われた一帯が、相当起伏のある地形だったことが歩きながら実感できると思う。

古戦場資料館の裏手の丘を上って古木の林を抜けていくと「武蔵塚」につながる小高い原っぱに出ます。古戦場公園の中では訪問者もあまり立ち寄らないエリアのようですが、ぜひ辿ってみてください。

裏手の小高い尾根を下っていくともう一つの国史跡である「庄九郎塚」へ。
国史跡「庄九郎塚」： 長久手合戦で討ち死にした池田恒興の長男・庄九郎こと池田之助の戦死の場所。当時。岐阜城主だった。鬼武蔵の森長可は義兄である。森長可はここから300m西側で戦死。
「庄九郎塚」のすぐ向こう側は市街地になっている。
