「大草のねこ物語」【長久手タイムズ】
市の東部の里山エリアを見守るかのように鎮座する招きねこの石像です。戦前の昭和10年頃につくられたと伝わっています。かつては瀬戸行きの名鉄バスの大草の停留所近く、中野商店（ツルサ）のすぐ脇に鎮座していました。地元の中野鶴三郎さんが制作されたもの。
中野商店が営まれている頃は、バス停前はこじんまりとでしたが賑やかでした。大草の停留所が瀬戸方面に移動したあたりからでしょうか見かけなくなり、近くに長久手温泉「ござらっせ」がオープンした頃、再びバス停の脇に鎮座するようになりました。
バスの乗降客の安全を見守るようでもあり、その視線の先にある大草の古えから田圃の風景を見守っているようでもあります。
大草の招きねこの奥に見えるのが長久手温泉「ござらっせ」。「ござらっせ、ござらっせ」と招いています。

かつて大草の招きねこの巨大な石像があった名鉄バスの大草バス停近傍の現在の風景。県道瀬戸大府線。向こう側が瀬戸市方面。
ねこの石像から道を渡ってすぐのところにある大草観音の碑。
かつての場所から300mほど南に下った同じ県道沿いに移動。同じくバス停のすぐ横に鎮座している。大草のご高齢者にとっては馴染みの石像なのだ。
