「日本の塔・月 – からくりモニュメント」アイ・地球博記念公園 からくり人形作家・夢童由里子氏の世界
１日に５回、護り童子のからくり人形がパフォーマンスをします。愛・地球博（2005年）でこのエリアには「日本ゾーン」がありました。当時、永久設置モニュメントとしてからくり人形モニュメント「日本の塔・月」が造られ設置されました。人形作家は、故・夢童由里子さん（2015年、71歳死去）で、名古屋城の本丸御殿復元プロジェクトの旗振り役として大きな貢献をされた方で、本丸御殿でも氏が製作したからくり人形を見ることができました。
現在、氏のからくり人形は、梅の花長久手店、大須観音、名古屋久屋大通セントラルパーク、名古屋高島屋からくりモニュメントほか、全国各地で永久設置されているのでどこかでご覧になった方も多いでしょう。モリコロパークの「日本の塔・月」も、あらためてご覧になってみてはいかがでしょう。西口駐車場からすぐ目の前、「こいの池」の手前に設置されています。奥にジブリの大倉庫が見える場所です。モリコロパークの前身の愛知青少年公園は、あの大阪万博開催の年の1970年に開園しています。
大阪万博の「太陽の塔」に対して、愛・地球博は、日本の文化は「太陽でなく月の存在によってかたちつくられてきた」という氏が、「日本の塔・月」と命名したのも強い意志や想いのあらわれだったと想像します。
からくり人形作家、造形作家の故・夢童由里子（むどうゆりこ）氏によって造形された。夢童氏は京都市出身。作風は和洋折衷ですが、からくり人形の衣装には西陣織が多い。また名古屋城「本丸御殿復元運動」では、市民団体「本丸御殿フォーラム」を設立、御殿復元の前進に大きな貢献を果たした人物だった。また「名古屋城文化フォーラム」運営のキーマンでもありました。
