［長久手タイムズ］再訪 ! 仏教テーマパーク五色園 【となりの日進】寄稿：柘植崇（１）
『およそ40年ぶりに訪れた五色園は記憶の中のそれとほぼ一致していた。この間、日進は人・物の流れは加速したものの、中央を横断する天白川を囲む田園や自然豊かな五色園はしっかりと保護・維持されてきたのだろう。そんな五色園が日常の意識に現れる人々は少ないかもしれない。
小学生から中学生にかけて週末に、縁結び弁財天女に見守られながらキャンプファイヤーや、はんごう炊飯、昆虫採集を経験した元ボーイスカウトには、フィールドアスレチック様遊具やトーテムポール、蚊帳で防いだ虫達の住処といった自然遊び/学び場の印象が強く残る。
この日も「桜ヶ池大蛇入定の由来」周辺でホロビオントを一眼レフに収める自然愛好家の姿があったが、実際に、NPO法人生物多様性愛護会が五色園湿地を”お忍びで”保全してくれていたのだ』柘植崇（日進市在住）
五色園は、浄土真宗の開祖・親鸞上人の生涯の重要な場面を塑像で演出した日本で唯一の宗教公園。「五色」とは、松・竹・梅・桜・紅葉の５種類の樹木にちなみ、四季折々の美しい自然に、とくに桜の季節には多くの地元の人が訪れる。
長久手の隣の市にある五色園の名前や存在は、平成生まれ以降の人にとっては馴染みがないというかほぼ知らないのではのではないかと想像する。昭和40年生まれ以前の市民（当時は長久手村民。あるいは日進町民）ならば、一度はお弁当を持参して訪れたことがあるだろう。
２度と行かない（笑）人もいるやもしれないが、日進の北部、長久手寄りの森の中には不思議な場所があったと言うことは必ず記憶しているはず。
実際現在も長久手古戦場公園駅から「五色園行き」のバスが出ている。その行き先を目にすると、長久手市民からしてみると（日進市民もそうなのかもしれないが）、何処か遠い記憶の中の「幻の園」を思い浮かべないだろうか。
時になんの目的もなく「五色園行き」のバスに乗車し終点まで行ってみては。何十年ぶりかに訪れた「五色園」は、まったく異なってあなたの心に現れに違いありません。
東京ディズニーランドよりも広い敷地に人間大ある塑像（コンクリート製）は100体（何十体は林や森の中にあり容易には巡り会えないようだ）があちこちに出現するのだから今の時代の人は相当に面食らうだろう。
ジブリパークのアニメに登場する置き物を探すような手間すらもないほどに、道を突き進んで行けば左右の道沿いの奥に、切り拓かれた林の中や池の向こう側に驚きの光景が現れるのだ。
