長久手に植樹された日本三大桜「根尾谷淡墨桜」
長久手市には、日本三大桜の「根尾谷淡墨桜」から植樹された「淡墨桜二世」が４カ所あります。場所によっては石碑があり確認できます。
植樹は、1977年（昭和52年）に植樹されているので45年以上が経ち、それぞれが大きく成長し見事な淡墨の桜を咲かせ市民を楽しませています。
こちらは岩作の御嶽山参道、香流川を渡り、川に沿い左手にすぐに見えてきます。
淡墨桜は、ソメイヨシノより１週間ほど早く満開になるとのことです。
上の２枚の淡墨桜の写真は、国指定の天然記念物である岐阜県本巣市の根尾谷の淡墨公園にある一本桜。樹齢1500年以上のエドヒガシの古木です。幹幅9.4m。「日本五大桜」、また山梨の山高神代桜と福島の三春滝桜と並んで「日本三大桜」の一つに数えられてます。作家の宇野千代が保護を訴え活動したことでも知られています。アメリカのワシントンD.C.には、1991年にこの古木から接ぎ木されたの淡墨桜が見られます。
長久手合戦時の亡き侍たちを敵味方関係なく弔った岩作の曹洞宗・安昌寺。その門の手前にあります。
この淡墨桜はバス通りからすぐ近くに見えることもあり、市民のみならず通り行くドライバーの目を楽しませてくれます。長久手でも最も満開の桜を見ることができるスポットです。
長久手東部の奥まった場所に２カ所あります。こちらは大草竹の大草公会堂から奥に入ったエリア。竹林が横に迫ってきているので桜が咲いていなければ遠くからは分かりずらい場所です。
４カ所目も長久手東部モリコロパークに近い丘陵手前にあります。昭和52年当時の植樹記念の石碑があります。こちらは北熊地区から少し奥まった場所にあり、桜が咲いていなければなかなか確認するのは困難な場所ですが道は通じています。春には生い茂った雑草は刈られているのではとおもいます。住所 : 長久手市福井1588
