「もりの学舎」❷ もう一つのエレベーター塔で森の中へ空中散歩【長久手タイムズ】
モリコロパークには、「もりの学舎（まなびや）」という建物があります。南駐車場から「サツキとメイの家」を眺望できる展望塔に向かう小径の入口にある二階建ての建物です。建物の裏手には森が広がっており、「自然体験」や「自然あそび」をしながら五感と想像力が自然と育まれるようにと愛知県がもうけたフィールドセンター（環境学習施設）になっています。
子供が「自然あそび」や「森あそび」をしたくなっているな、という発信をキャッチしたらぜひ一度立ち寄ってみるのがいいでしょう。「自然」や「森」「生き物」に関する様々な資料が準備され、実際建物は森に囲まれています。こんな施設がすぐ近くにあるんだと知ることが、一つの契機となって自然を学び、その体験はきっと広がっていくでしょう。

もりの学舎の入口付近では、周りの森で拾ってきたどんぐりが干されていました。
もりの学舎の周りの森に落ちていた樹木からの贈り物でつくられた生き物たち。
「もりの学舎」で学び観察したも子供たちの成果が毎年分ファイリングされています。これは2019年分。コロナ禍がはじまる前年のファイル。
コロナで2020年から数年ファイルはありません。ファイルは誰でも見れるようになっています。
モリコロパークにもう一つある「エレベーター塔」へ！
もりの学舎全景。右の高い塔がモリコロパークにあるもう一つの「エレベーター塔」。ジブリの「エレベーター塔」の余波で、こちらの森の中へと遠じるエレベーター塔は存在が薄くなったが、実際に利用してみると「空中散歩」ができ素晴らしい体験ができます。
サツキとメイの家からも10分程で着くのでぜひ訪れてみてはいかがだろう。
キワニスの森の上を空中散歩！
もりの学舎は、「キワニスの森」に囲まれています。「キワニス」は米国先住民の言葉「Nunc Kee-wanis」（みんな一緒に集まる）に由来する言葉。
この「キワニスの森」は、2005年に愛・地球博が開催される遥か以前の1977年（愛知青少年公園が開園した7年後）に名古屋キワニスクラブが創立10周年記念事業として、当時荒地だったこの地に緑を贈ろうと植樹を始めたことから名づけられた森です。
ちなみにキワニスクラブとは、ロータリークラブ、ライオンズクラブとともに「世界三大社会奉仕団体」の一つ。地域貢献や子ども達への奉仕を行う国際ボランティア組織です。日本においては1966年にキワニスオンターナショナル加盟クラブとして発足、「世界の子供たちに奉仕する」「子供たちを第一に」をスローガンとした様々な事業を実施。創立20周年期記念事業として、徳川美術館へ陶壁画を寄贈しています。
エレベーター塔３階から「キワニスの森」の中へと空中歩道が設けられています。「サツキとメイの家」を見下ろす展望塔はここから500m程の森の中。３階からのエレベーター塔の出入り口はこの写真の右側。
