歴史を遡れば、1970年代初頭より市東部を自然環境が豊かな田園地帯、西部と南西部を市街化区域として数十年にわたって段階的に計画的な大型都会開発がおこなわれてきています
東西の特緒的エリアをグリーンロードと後にリニモで結ぶことになりリニモ各駅に商業施設を呼び込み暮らしの利便性を高める施策が取られてきました

この一帯は名古屋市の東端の藤が丘地区から、市境から100m程しか離れていない
今回、長久手市の最も西端のエリア（名東区藤が丘エリアに接する地区）にフォーカスして、市東部の里山エリア（上郷）と画像を左右に置いて比べてみました。市の西端は、スーパーの平和堂よりさらに西端で、ふだんはなかなか訪れることもないエリアかと思います。
東部の写真は三ヶ峯地区を今回取り上げた訳でもないので最も東端の風景ではありませんが、東部里山エリアの上郷にて撮影した写真を用いました。

このエリアは写真で紹介した藤が丘近郊から１km程離れていますが、長久手市全体から見れば市西部エリアに位置しており、大型商業施設以外は商店などと住宅街になっています

20年余〜30年前に長久手西部エリアに設立された銀行や信用金庫、マンション、病院、カーディーラーなどの多くの建物の名称には、住所が長久手であってもその多くは「藤が丘」の名称が付けられていることが多い
それほどこのエリアのブランド名はさらに遡って半世紀にわたって「藤が丘」でありつづけました
